The following study discusses, first, the role of emerging technologies and innovations in modernizing, improving economic prosperity and enhancing quality of life in Poland and the EU, and secondly, point to the major present and future challenges related to these technologies on national, regional and individual levels. The authors of the individual chapters are experts in various fields (science and engineering, research and education, business and public administration), examining the importance of innovation and emerging technologies to economic growth and quality of life in Poland and the EU.
Małgorzata Runiewicz-Wardyn is a professor of economy at Koźmiński University in Warsaw and a researcher in the Transformation, Integration and Globalization Economic Research Centre. She was twice postdoctoral Visiting Fellow at the Centre for European Studies of Harvard University (2008 and 2009), the Institute of Urban and Regional Development of the Berkeley University of California (2008), University College London (UCL) (2013) and Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). She is an author of numerous scientific publications and an expert in EU funded research projects related to knowledge economy, information society, innovation systems, regional economics and international competitiveness.
